    10. The connection between the exceptional quality of wine, its reputation and its geographical location

Climate – characterized by a humid climate, moderately cold winters and long warm summers. The annual duration of sunlight is within 1900 - 2000 hours, and during the vegetation period - within 1400 - 1500 hours . The average annual air temperature is 14.2 ° C. The average temperature of the warmest month (August) is 22.2 ° C, and the coldest month (January) is not less than +0.5 ° C. A steady transition of the average daily air temperature above 10 ° C occurs in the first decade of April (7.IV) , a drop in temperature below 10 ° C is observed in the first decade of November (2.XI) . Thus, the duration of the vegetation period is 209 days . The sum of active temperatures reaches an average of 3700 ° C. More than 3800 ° C once every 4 years .

The annual total of atmospheric precipitation is 1095 mm , and precipitation in August almost equals its evaporation, which indicates the need for irrigation of vineyards in certain years, during this summer month .

The number of hail days during the growing season is 0.8 (Tsageri), and hail occurs relatively frequently in May and June (0.3-0.3) .

Due to the meridional direction of the Rioni Gorge , winds blow mainly along the gorge . The prevailing winds are southwest ( 22%), south (17%) , northeast (12%) , and their perpendicular winds are southwest ( 14% ) and northeast (12% ). Average annual wind speed

does not exceed 1.0 m/s . Such zones belong to the regions of Group III of weakly acting winds .

Soil – The microzone of “ Tvishi” production is represented in the hilly zone of Western Georgia , and in particular in the Racha - Lechkhumi region , which is located on the right bank of the Rioni River . In terms of relief, these areas represent gently and moderately sloping slopes of various exposures with small terraced ridges. The overall slope is mainly directed to the southeast and east.

Humus-carbonate soils are mainly represented with their varieties and differences, which differ from each other both in profile and thickness of the humus layer , as well as in mechanical composition , roughness and degree of compaction . Deluvial and loamy soils are represented with their varieties and differences in a relatively small area .

Humus-carbonate soils, which are mainly represented in the hilly-hilly zone, are characterized by quite diverse profile thickness, degree of roughness-sedimentation and mechanical composition . The profile thickness of these soils mainly varies within 50 - 80 cm , while the active humus layer is within 20 - 40 cm . In some sections , where the relief is characterized by strong slopes and erosion processes occur , the soils are characterized by a small profile thickness and are less than 40 - 50 cm , while the active humus layer does not exceed 15 - 20 cm .

They are developed mainly on clay loams and limestone debris . According to their mechanical composition , these soils mainly belong to the heavy loams and clayey groups , where the physical clay content (<0.01 mm fraction) mainly varies within 45 - 75% . In exceptional cases , they are loams and the clay content is 35 - 45%.

The humus content in these soils is characterized by a small index and is mainly within 2.5 - 1.5% . In the active layer of the soil , it gradually decreases further. They are mainly characterized by low indices in terms of the content of basic nutritional elements ( NPK ) . The content of hydrolytic nitrogen in these soils does not exceed 6.0 mg per 100 g of soil. It is also very poor in soluble phosphorus and is mostly present in trace amounts . They also contain exchangeable potassium in small amounts and does not exceed 10 mg per 100 g of soil. They contain calcium carbonates in medium and small amounts and mainly vary within 2 - 20% . The pH of the soil is weakly and moderately alkaline , and the pH value mainly varies within 7.3 - 8.2.

A small area is represented by deluvial soils, which are mainly found in patches on the lower slopes of the slopes . These soils are characterized by a relatively deeper thickness profile (70 - 100 cm) and a lower content of carbonates , and in some sections carbonates are completely dissolved and are only present in insignificant small quantities in the lower layers . The rest

In terms of humus and basic nutrient elements (NPK) content , these soils are also characterized by low levels , as humus- carbonate soils.

A relatively small area is also represented by loamy soils, which are mostly characterized by a medium and small thickness profile . The profile thickness of these soils mainly varies within 40-80 cm , while the active humus layer is within 20-30 cm . They belong to heavy loams and clays in terms of mechanical composition , and the physical clay content mainly varies within 50 - 70% . The humus content in this soil is also small and in the active layer it is mainly within 2.5 - 1.5% , and in the lower layers it gradually decreases. They do not contain carbonates . The soil reaction is mainly neutral and the pH indicator is within 6.2 - 7.1 . It is also very poor in the content of basic nutritional elements (NPK).

Human Factor – “Tvishi” has been produced since 1952 , immediately after the construction of the Tvishi Winery .

The construction of the factory in Tvishi and the production of this excellent semi- sweet wine became possible after the famous events of 1942 and as a result of the development and implementation of the technology for producing naturally semi- sweet wines .

The geographical location favorable for high-quality winemaking , the microclimate created on the right bank of the Rioni River , the richness of the soils , the varietal aroma of Tsolikouri revealed here , and the method of production determine the special properties of the wine “Tvishi”.

    11. Special labeling requirements

The name “ TVI ” and the indication “ Wine with Protected Designation of Origin ” will be placed on the label, packaging, as well as in the documents accompanying the wine and in advertising materials in foreign languagesas follows:
