- Subregions: Grumello Inferno Maroggia Sassella Valgella Note: Stagafassli is a term that may appear on the label, but it is not a subzone. It indicates Valtellina Superiore wine that is bottled across the border in Switzerland; it may also be aged in the towns of Brusio and Poschiavo, Switzerland. The wine and grapes still come from the Italian Valtellina, though. It can’t be labeled with one of the five subzones, even if the vineyards otherwise qualify, because the bottling is not done in the subzone, nor can it be designated as riserva.
