  • Acolon is a modern red wine grape variety crafted to produce full-bodied wines with vibrant color and velvety tannins, uniting the smooth, fruity attributes of its parent varieties with enhanced structure and superior ripening qualities.

Reliable yields with consistent quality, Acolon thrives under proper vineyard management to prevent overproduction and maintain concentration.

It typically ripens earlier than Dornfelder, making it ideal for regions with shorter growing seasons. The variety is particularly well-suited to cool-climate regions, including Germany’s Württemberg and Franken wine areas.

Additionally, Acolon performs well in moderate climates with adequate sunshine to enhance sugar accumulation.

Acolon exhibits good resistance to fungal diseases such as downy and powdery mildew, further supporting its reliability in diverse growing conditions. This variety is especially valued for its ability to deliver consistent quality even in challenging vintages, making it a dependable choice for growers in cool climates.

By combining the rich color and structure of Dornfelder with the fruity, approachable character of Blaufränkisch, Acolon offers a versatile profile. It excels as a standalone wine and as a blending component, appealing to a wide range of wine producers and consumers.
