  • Mujuretuli is an indigenous red grape variety from **Georgia**, primarily cultivated in the eastern part of the country, particularly in the **Kakheti** and **Kartli** wine regions. The name "Mujuretuli" means “from Mujureti,” referencing its origin near the Mujureti area. It is often used in blends, most notably with the **Saperavi** grape, to produce **Khvanchkara**, one of Georgia’s most famous naturally semi-sweet red wines. Known for its finesse, aromatic complexity, and balanced profile, Mujuretuli plays a significant role in traditional Georgian winemaking.

    * **Skin**: Thin to medium, dark bluish-black color

    * **Flesh**: Juicy, soft, non-pigmented (unlike teinturier varieties like Saperavi)

    ### **Viticultural Traits**

    * **Growing Season**: Mid to late ripening

    * **Vigor**: Moderate to high

    * **Yield**: Moderate; consistent

    * **Climate Suitability**: Performs best in temperate to moderately warm climates with good sun exposure

    * **Soil Preference**: Thrives in loamy, well-drained soils with moderate fertility

    * **Resistance**: Moderate resistance to fungal diseases; relatively sensitive to drought and frost

    ### **Enological Characteristics**

    * **Wine Style**: Typically used in blends (e.g., Khvanchkara); also vinified on its own for dry or semi-sweet styles

    * **Alcohol Potential**: Moderate (10.5–12.5% ABV)

    * **Acidity**: Moderate to high (helps in preserving freshness)

    * **Sugar Accumulation**: Good, enabling natural semi-sweet production

    * **Tannin Structure**: Fine-grained, soft tannins

    * **Color**: Light to medium ruby red when vinified alone

    * **Aromas/Flavors**:

    * **Primary**: Red cherry, raspberry, wild strawberry

    * **Secondary**: Rose petals, pomegranate, hints of spice and herbs

    * **Aging Potential**: Better suited for early consumption but can age well in blends
